Important news about our
Manitoba Security Guard Training Program course and your Security Guard Licence
You cannot work permanently as a Security Guard until you complete the training and pass the Government Licence Test. Once you have done that you may apply for your permanent Security Guard licence. However, in order to do that you must also provide the Government office with proof of your clear criminal record. A criminal record check may be obtained at the Commissionaires office at 290 Burnell St. in Winnipeg, 204 942-5993. They are fast and polite, have free parking and are open on Saturdays. You do not need a "vulnerable sector" check for your security guard licence.
You will also need a clear Child Abuse Registry Check. This document is available at the Family Services office on the 1st floor, 777 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. This check might take four to six weeks to get so you should apply for it as soon as possible. You need these documents only for your licence.
You do NOT need them to take our training.
Before you register for our security guard training, please check our training offered. Each course is limited to 12 students. If you register for a course that is full, we will put your name on a waiting list. If we get a cancellation, we will ask you if you’re still available. We will, if you wish, also put your name on the confirmed list for the next month’s course. We normally work two or three months ahead and courses fill quickly. If you want to train with us, don’t wait. Register as soon as you decide. As payment is in cash on the first day of training, you can easily cancel at a later date. If you do have to cancel, let us know as soon as you can so we can fill the course. Registration and other information can be found on the following pages.
