READ THIS BEFORE YOU COME TO OUR TRAINING

YOU DON'T NEED THESE PAPERS TO COME TO OUR TRAINING, BUT:

To get a Security Guard licence, you must provide the Department of Justice with:

A CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK AND A CHILD ABUSE REGISTRY CHECK

You can't get a security licence without them.  If you go to the Winnipeg Police Service for your criminal record check, it can take weeks.  Your child abuse registry check will possibly take weeks.

The fastest and easiest way to get both of these is to do two things:

  1. For your criminal record check, you should go to the Commissionaires at 290 Burnell St. in Winnipeg.  You will not only save money but your check will probably be ready for you in two or three days.
  2. For your child abuse registry check, you should apply in person or online as soon as you can as this one will  take weeks and you can't get your licence without it.  The application form (e-form) and instructions are available at  http://manitoba.ca/fs/abuseregistries.html.  You can apply online and go to their office to pick it up at 777 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg.
So, don't wait.  Apply for your checks as soon as you can and you might have them when you pass the licence test.  Then you can get your licence right away without waiting.
